Lady of the Stars

Breaking up is hard to do. No, that is a lie. Breaking up is the easy part. Staying away is the hard part. Lewis was finding that out really quickly. This couldn’t go on. She was going to make this stop. But first, she needed some help. There was only one place for her to turn to turn.

Oh boy…

Lewis made her way to the Sunny Plum. Sure enough, her friends were already sitting at the table. The farmer took a breath and pushed open the door. Everyone looked up when the bell ahead the door rang. The old biddies were shocked to see her.

“Lewis!” Muriel said. Even Annie and Tucker had their jaws dropped to the ground. The farmer hurried over to the table.

“I need your help!” she said. “My niece and her ex are driving me crazy! I want my house back!” Aisha lowered her cup.

“Okay, what do you need?” she asked. Lewis breathed out.

“Thank you,” she said. The farmer took a seat at the table and sat down.

Lewis wasn’t the only one in an uncomfortable situation. William looked between Clover and the young man. His younger niece raised an eyebrow.

“Is that…?” she began ask. The old man sighed and dropped his head.

“Yes,” he said.

“Why is he here?” Clover asked. The young man was about to speak when William cut him off.

“He was just leaving,” he said. He walked over and tried to push him towards the door. Still, this young fool wouldn’t give up.

“I want to see Lizzie!” he shouted.

“No!” William said. “Now get out of my house!” The old man turned to his niece.

“Go call the police!” he shouted. Clover turned and headed to the kitchen. The young man waved his hands in the air.

“No, no, no!” he yelped. “I’ll leave.” William narrowed his eyes.

“You really mean it?” he asked.

“Yes,” the young man said. William nudged him towards the door.

“Good,” he said. “Out you go. Bye now!” With one shove, the young man was outside. William shut the door after him. He brushed his hands together.

“There, that’s that,” he said.

“What’s what?” a voice asked. The old man froze.

“Aw, shit,” he muttered to himself. William turned and saw Liz walking to stand next to her sister. Clover stared at William. Their uncle forced himself to smile.

“Nothing, dear,” he lied. “Nothing at all.” He walked past them towards the kitchen. Liz and Clover looked at each other.

“Everything is fine,” William insisted. “I just need to put the kettle on.” The old man got to work making the tea. The sisters said nothing as they watched him get to work.

----------

Lewis led her friends back to her house. Too late to turn back now. She took a breath and opened the door.

“I’m home!” the farmer called. Lewis and the old biddies paused.

“What is ‘hat?” Clyde asked.

“Shhh!” Aisha hissed. Was that… kissing? The old biddies walked into the living room. Their jaws dropped to the ground. Kat and her ex were sitting on the couch, kissing. Lewis rolled her eyes and marched forward.

“Kat! What are you doing?!” she shouted. The couple quickly broke away. Kat stared at her with big eyes.

“Auntie!” she yelped. Lewis’ friends had their judgmental looks.

“Oh my,” Muriel said.

“Oh boy…” Clyde said. Aisha just shook her head. Things just got more complicated, didn’t they? Time to dive in and try to fix before this cycle started again. Oh boy…
