Made for Me
Six Weeks Ago
Nina doesn’t get it. Why won’t he leave? What did he see in her? She was damaged
goods.
“Why are you damaged goods?” her therapist asked. Nina sighed.
“I don’t know.”
She has no answers. Or rather she won’t say it.
Vince doesn’t know either. He’s just drawn to her. Maybe Vince wants to find
out. Maybe he does love her. He doesn’t know.
Neither one knows.
--------
Vince
He wants to get close to her. Yet, he doesn’t know how to reach her. Nina
reminds him of his ex. He couldn’t save Aly. Maybe he was trying to save Nina.
Always saving someone.
“You can’t save everyone!” Nina tried to tell him. That might—No, it was true.
He wasn’t going to give up on her.
Vince was going to save Nina. But why? He has yet to answer that one.
----------
Nina
“What do you want from me?”
“I don’t know.”
She can’t shake him off. Vince didn’t want her body. He didn’t want money. He
didn’t know what he wanted.
“Please! Leave me alone.” Her words fall in vain.
“Do you want him to get out of your life?” her therapist asked. Nina lowered her
eyes.
“I don’t know.”
There it was again. She doesn’t know. Would it be better if she did? Nina
shivered at the thought.
“Do you need a moment?”
“Yes.”
“Okay. Take your time if you need to.”
“Thank you.”
----------
Vince
“I like you.”
“But why?”
“You remind me of someone.”
Nina rolled her eyes. That was a dumb thing to say. But it was the truth. That
wasn’t completely true. Nina wasn’t Aly. He could still save Nina. But did she
want to be saved?
Vince wasn’t going to give up no matter what. He failed once. He wasn’t going to
fail again.
But now he’s gone radio silent.
